How much does it cost to charge an iPhone or equivalent smart phone?

I think the actual LiIon voltage is 3.7V normally, 3.8-something under charge. But the real number is the capacity and this varies from iPhone model to iPhone model. The 6 and 6plus have 1800 and 2900 mAh batteries respectively.

The energy stored in them is 6.6Wh to 10.730 Wh

Charging efficiency is probably around 50 to 75%, not that much is wasted by the charger or the charging effect. Certainly not 10% as some suggest.

California has higher than average power rates, 20 cents per kWh is probably normal there.

Based on 50% charge efficiency and 20 cents per kWh,

An iPhone 6Plus would cost $0.0042 e.g. about four tenths of a cent to charge fully.

An iPhone 6 would cost about $0.0026 or about a quarter of a cent to charge fully.

For a full year, Every day a full charge, would cost around a buck to a buck and a half. Cheap fun!

IPhone Xr - 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 are similar or the same with minimal difference as are equivalent Samsung or other models

A safe fast charger like used for EV vehicles for mobile phones & other devices should exist with no increased charging costs
